I'm just starting out with using loose tea any pointers you can give me?
1. Should I buy an electric kettle?
2. Should I buy a stove top pot (infuser/press combo)?
3. Should I go with a infuser or a strainer (I drink tea a lot).
4. I’m in to green teas but what is your favorite?
5. What is the best method for storage of tea leaves (freezer, or just in cupboard)

Tell the truth: are we too gauche for B&Bs?
We are reasonably polite people, but we are not perfect. During a stay at a bed and breakfast last year, we committed the following offenses: we used the breakfast room electric kettle to heat water after dark (it was still out and plugged in), and we used our computer to watch a couple of funny shows after sightseeing on a couple of evenings. The first offense was committed around midnight, and the latter offenses were committed in roughly the 9:00 PM-11:00 PM range. We had the computer at normal volume, and at any rate, without added speakers (which we did not have), our computer does not get very loud.
The hostess burst out of her room to scold us about making tea while we were in the act, but she waited till we were leaving to scold us about watching the shows, which were apparently too loud.
We have done similar things in hotel rooms (from mid-priced American chains to quite nice European hotels), and never been yelled at.
We certainly don’t believe in yelling, screaming, or blasting a stereo, but we would have thought that making some noise was part of any normal person’s evening activity. Is it standard practice in a bed and breakfast to make no noise other than a whisper after 9:00 PM or so? Or was this lady unusually strict?
I am asking because I am planning accommodations for another trip, and I would like to know whether looking at B&Bs should even be an option.
Thanks for the answer so far. This was in Montreal. Our next trip is also to Canada. We have traveled throughout the U.S., England, and Spain without complaints, but mostly in hotels.

An electric kettle has a power rating of 800 watts. I fill it with 2 litres of water from the
tap (temperature of 20/C). I wish to bring the water up to a temperature of 80/C to make
tea. How long should I boil the kettle for?
Your answer is MUCH appreciated!
I don’t need numbers but if you describe to me HOW to do it, I would be very happy. Thanks!

What is the best brand cordless electric kettle and where can I buy it?
I’ve got a stainless steel one made by GE but it takes forever for it to boil. I’m looking to replace it.
It looks like a regular kettle, except it sits on a base that looks about like a trivet with an electric cord that plugs in. You leave it on your counter top, filled with water. Then when you are in need of hot water for soup, tea, cocoa, instant oatmeal, whatever, click it on and the water comes to boiling in a minute or two and automatically shuts off (if it’s a good one).
go to BedBath.com or www.target.com and search for "electric kettle."
I love them because they are so fast to heat up water, plus I hate using the microwave and I don’t have to get a pan dirty on the stove.
